iMIS 2FA is used for full staff accounts (paid-for licensed "full users") across the Dietitians Australia Staff Site, the Member Portal, and Share Plate community site. Staff login sessions timeout after 70 minutes of inactivity on each iMIS website. Only staff must use 2FA for DA sites, to protect accounts with full database access. 2FA is not required when Dietitians Australia members are logging on to their member accounts, it's only for staff.
NOTE: If you have received an iMIS 2FA reset email from info@dietitiansaustralia.org.au without triggering it yourself, it could be a malicious attempt to take control of your account. Please contact it@dietitiansaustralia.org.au if you're concerned an email is not genuine, and read up on identifying spam email in our Helpdesk.
2FA Setup Instructions
These instructions will give you access to iMIS-powered sites for fully licensed staff logins. If you're not sure whether you have been granted a fully licensed login, please log a Helpdesk ticket. If you only need to access the member portal and Share Plate, you can have a free-of-charge Staff Membership login that has no access restrictions – but no editing and admin power.
1. If you haven’t already, install an authenticator app. The Microsoft Authenticator app is the preferred app for Dietitians Australia; other authentication apps work for now, but Microsoft Authenticator will become a requirement. Mobile apps can be downloaded from the Play Store or App Store.
On first launch you may be asked to create an Authenticator account or sign in using an existing identity, but you can skip this step. It's just for the app itself, not 2FA setups, is separate from any Dietitians Australia account credentials, and is optional.
2. Go to staff.dietitiansaustralia.org.au on your laptop/computer. If your username/password aren’t automatically filled in, add them and hit ‘Sign in’. If a new password is needed, click ‘Forgot?’.
3. After the first effort to sign in, the Security code box should appear. Click on ‘I don’t have a security code’. If the box doesn’t appear, clear your web browser history and repeat from Step 2.
4. Instructions will automatically be emailed to the address associated with your iMIS account.
5. The email sent to your registered address will contain a QR Code for you scan to set up 2FA. The emailed QR Code is only valid for a short time. It comes from info@dietitiansaustralia.org.au with the subject “Setup information for additional sign-in security for Dietitians Australia”.
If your staff iMIS record does not have a valid/correct email address, please reach out to the IT Helpdesk for assistance to update it and then go back to Step 3 to set yourself up.
6. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your phone and click the + button at the top right to add a new account.
7. Choose ‘Other account’. This is important and tapping the wrong selection will prevent 2FA setup. Your device may ask for camera permission, say Yes. The phone camera will activate, point it at the QR Code in your setup email. The app will add a new entry called ‘dietitiansaustralia’, which you can rename later to identify it as your iMIS login. If it fails, repeat from step 2 and use the new QR Code.
8. Tap the account name to generate a code, enter it into the iMIS login screen, along with your username and password, and click Sign in. This code is time limited, so it is best to perform these steps right away.
